Would you like to contribute to delivering sustainable climate adaptation projects that benefit our water areas and the environment? Do you have experience assessing regulatory aspects and relevant environmental legislation in projects related to surface water and climate adaptation? Would you like to make a difference in multidisciplinary, nationwide water and climate adaptation projects? Then this could be the role for you!
Your new role
Denmark needs sustainable solutions within climate adaptation that benefits of water, people, and nature. Our team supports projects from early design to execution, which includes preparing applications for the authorities along the way. We are looking at an exciting pipeline of tasks, and therefore need to strengthen our team with both a Junior and a Senior Consultant.
As our new consultant in water and environmental permits, you will be part a network of experts, working together on projects within water and climate adaptation throughout the country. We work with a varying portfolio of projects primarily for utility companies and municipalities, with tasks including handling, purification, and discharge of rainwater and wastewater, as well as climate adaptation and storm surge protection, which calls for holistic, nature-based solutions with room for biodiversity. In our projects, the Water Framework Directive and the "Indsatsbekendtgørelsen" are often essential for project implementation – and this is where we will be looking to you for help!
In your role, the focus will be on assessing the impact on affected water areas in connection with, among other things, the discharge of rainwater, wastewater, or groundwater to water areas near the project. In this role, you will have the opportunity to bring your scientific knowledge into play, while at the same time drawing on your experience with various regulatory processes relating to the water and environmental area in collaboration with customers and municipal authorities. Similarly, you will be able to put to use any experience with other forms of regulatory processes in relation to climate adaptation projects or stream regulation and/or experience coordinating regulatory processes on projects. So, regardless of whether you consider yourself more of a generalist with a broad overview of the environmental impacts of water projects, or a specialist in water chemistry, surface water or freshwater biology, or even if you reckon you are something in between, we believe this role could be a match for you, and we would love to get in touch with you! We are a close-knit department, where mutual respect, room for professional development and sparring with each other are the key components of our shared success.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Carry out assessments of the impact of projects on streams and lakes in accordance with the Water Framework Directive and ”Indsatsbekendtgørelsen” by making calculations, analysing data and determining an appropriate level of analyses in dialogue with the customer and the municipal authority.
- Prepare applications for discharge permits, regulation of streams, draft supplements to wastewater plans or other permits, etc. with relevance to climate adaptation projects. In addition to this, identify and keep an overview of the status and progress of permits, etc., that are necessary to implement the projects.
- Work together with our colleagues who develop and design the climate adaptation projects to ensure that the design takes into account the framework of the legislation.
- Participate in interdisciplinary projects as a discipline lead for authorisation coordination or a specialist depending on experience in primarily climate adaptation, but other project areas may also be relevant depending on your background.
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration across Ramboll on task involving discharge permits under ”Indsatsbekendtgørelsen” and permits under the ”Vandløbsloven”, just as there may be tasks that contribute to environmental impact reports, supplements to wastewater plans, etc.
- Follow the development of regulatory processes within the water area and help develop this field at Ramboll.
About you
When you join Ramboll, we will support your personal and professional development. Whether you are a seasoned specialist or at the beginning of your career, we are interested in hearing from you. We imagine that you will recognise yourself in several of the following:
- You have worked with regulatory processes in a municipality or in the government within areas relevant to climate adaptation, or have worked with the tasks as consultant and prepared applications or decisions within ”Spildevandsbekendtgørelsen” and ”Vandløbsloven”, EIA screenings, etc.
- You have experience with assessments of the impact on streams according to ”Indsatsbekendtgørelsen” and knowledge of the related legislation, e.g. from an authority, consultancy company, wastewater supply or similar, and have knowledge of the biological and chemical conditions of water areas from, for example, a higher educational degree in the natural sciences within biology or similar.
- If you are an experienced applicant, you have experience with and flair for project management or serving as a discipline lead with input from others.
- You are good at communicating this complex subject area to customers, authorities, and colleagues – also when you have to convey issues or obstacles for the project.
- You navigate easily between different interdisciplinary communities with many different professional groups.
- You approach tasks systematically and pay attention to detail, meaning that the tasks have the necessary quality and are completed on time.
- You are fluent in Danish, written and spoken.
