The role holder plays a pivotal role in driving safety & environmental performance and risk management within Cluster 5 (which includes the following sites – McPherson, Rochester, Pearl River, Algete and Catania) in accordance with Pfizer EHS policies and procedures. This includes con tributing to the Cluster 5 Leadership Team and integrating EHS priorities within the IMEx framework to drive priorities and transparency to status and progress; escalating where support is required.
What You Will Achieve
The role provides an unequalled opportunity to provide positive impact across a multi-site operating unit – advancing workplace safety practices, and environmental risk management thereby enabling the cluster 5 community to do their best work for patients every day. It also provides an avenue to collaborate with peers to advance good practices more broadly across PGS. Key activities include driving implementation of standardized risk management tools including EHS risk register, self-audit, management review, event management and risk assessment processes and supporting the Cluster LT in EHS resource planning. This role includes facilitating productive cross-site engagement and networking to drive consistent implementation of Pfizer EHS policies and procedures and to ensure preparedness for change (business, regulatory etc)
How You Will Achieve It
Provides support to assigned sites to ensure foundational safety & environmental management systems are in place and drives consistency in risk management practices across the cluster
In collaboration with site leaders, designs and drives plans to grow a proactive culture at assigned sites to advance performance excellence
Objectively assesses performance to ensure safety & environmental risks at assigned sites are identified, evaluated and effectively managed in compliance with regulatory and Pfizer policy and procedure expectations.
Escalates vulnerabilities / gaps as appropriate to secure alignment and support on risk reduction action plans; and drives these to closure consistently across assigned sites.
Oversees / leads investigation processes for actual / potential significant issues and drives lessons learned / action plan to advance performance improvement.
Collaborates with Cluster leadership team and safety and environmental global business process owners to facilitate preparedness for change (e.g. shift in operational priorities, regulatory proposals, updates to control requirements).
Supports cluster in long term EHS resource planning to ensure organizational design and composition remains aligned with safety & environmental risk profile and operational needs.
Coaches, mentors and builds safety & environmental capability within cluster to drive continuous improvement and build talent for the future needs of the organization.
Establishes and drives forums to foster safety & environmental collaboration across assigned sites to drive consistency of implementation, efficiency, innovation and risk reduction.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of experience in life sciences, engineering, risk management or related field
EHS practitioner with experience implementing compliance and risk management requirements
A minimum of 7 - 10 years relevant industry experience gained within a chemical, biopharma or drug product manufacturing setting, with a sustained track record in improving performance
Organized and detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to handle competing priorities and perform under pressure, bias for action
Possesses a collaborative spirit, effective influencing skills, with track record of driving matrix team performance
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work across sites and cultures to drive performance expectations.

Related auditing experience desirable
Site EHS leadership experience in a complex chemical, biotech or biopharma site

Work Location Assignment: Flexible colleagues are assigned a Pfizer site within a commutable distance where they work about 2-3 days weekly to connect and innovate with their team face-to-face. However, they also benefit from being able to work offsite regularly when it makes business sense to do so.
