We are looking for an innovative and dynamic programme Nature-based Solutions Programme Manager
for the BirdLife Climate Change Programme. In this post you will lead development of portfolios of Nature-based Solutions projects across the BirdLife Partnership.
This post will also support the development and implementation of the BirdLife Climate Change Programme, which supports the BirdLife Partnership to mobilise governments and society to adopt emission-reducing policies; nature-based climate solutions; and a rapid, nature-safe transition to renewable energy.
How you will do this:
- Developing the grassland and other Nature-based Solutions (NbS) portfolios in close coordination with all regions.
- Overseeing feasibility studies, building project capacity, and pursuing funding.
- Supporting other Nature-based Solutions (NbS) portfolios—for example, wetland projects—by collaborating with regional offices, developing best practices, building capacity, and advancing fundraising opportunities.
- Collaborating with staff across the BirdLife Secretariat's Climate Change Programme, including Conservation, Science, Policy, and Regional Divisions, to ensure effective cross-team communication.
- Assisting the Head of Climate and Forests with programme coordination - including organising meetings, enhancing communication, tracking progress, and supporting fundraising efforts.
- Aiding the Policy Division with climate objectives as needed
Ideally you will have:
- Masters’ Degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in a conservation or environmental subject.
- Demonstrable knowledge and proven experience in developing and implementing Nature-based Solutions projects, preferably including grassland or wetland restoration.
- Good knowledge of international and/or national climate change and biodiversity policy.
- Experience of developing sustainable finance initiatives, preferably including carbon projects.
- Experience of project management.
- Excellent organisational and coordination skills, with careful attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse complex problems and think strategically.
- Ability to network and collaborate with others, with cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to manage own workload and know when to seek advice from others.

Some of our benefits:
- We are able to offer a hybrid model of working on-site and from home/remote for most roles, which helps to ensure a flexible work-life balance.
- A chance to work in the award-winning David Attenborough Building, which brings together much of the Cambridge-based conservation community on a ‘conservation campus.’
- A generous pension scheme, up to 12% company contribution.
- Holiday starting at 25 days excluding Bank Holidays and increasing for every year of service up to a maximum of 28 days.
- Full access to LinkedIn Learning with access to more than 13,000 high-quality, on-demand courses.
- Cycle to work scheme.
