Summary
Throughout the Apprenticeship, you will receive the education necessary to learn the technical and non-technical competencies and skills of a Field Service Representative and will get training and exposure on how our products are built and how our systems and culture work.
- During the first 12 months, you will be based at our Red Oak, TX facility.
- You will immerse yourself in a manufacturing environment to become acquainted with our processes and products (including assembly, wiring, quality inspections, and others).
- You will also attend classes, to gain electrical and power systems theory knowledge.
- After the first year, you will shadow current Field Service Representatives for six months, to get practical and hands-on experience and gain specific knowledge of how different Business Units service our customers.
- For these last 6 months, you must be open to traveling or relocation as needed, as we have Field Service Representatives across the nation.
- At the end of the 18 months, you will receive a Field Service Representative Journeyworker card, and will be ready to apply to Field Service Representative permanent roles in our Power, Secure Power and ASCO business units.
Description
- Attend classes to gain electrical theory and power systems knowledge.
- Learn assembly, wiring, quality inspection and testing processes and put them into practice at our Manufacturing Plant in Red Oak, TX.
- Learn on the job by observing, practicing, and supporting on-site repairs, start-up services and preventative maintenance.
- Job shadow on the job when performing technical and complex work orders that require expertise by other team member(s) who are qualified and experienced.
- Support, observe, and provide hands on training when installing electrical projects at customer sites.
- Assist with ordering parts and documentation when needed.
- Learn how equipment is maintained, repaired; observe when performing a retrofit, testing, calibrations, and other activities to meet our customer’s needs.
- Observe how start-ups are performed in accordance with specifications.
- Observe when consulting with product support and engineering personnel to determine solutions to unusual problems in systems.
- Interact with Schneider Electric’s customers and shadow how business and services are conducted.
Qualifications
- Must have a safety conscious mindset and apply good safety work practices.
- Must demonstrate to adhere to all safety policies involving PPEs, safe driving, workplace/electrical safety.
- Have the ability to interpret written/verbal instructions and apply them in the services field.
- Will need to have the desire to work on technical equipment and learn through on the job training.
- Be comfortable to work around energized equipment, hot/cold work environments, and have the ability to travel to multiple site locations.
- Be flexible to work various work schedules based on program needs.
- Must possess understanding of MS Word, MS Outlook, and other MS applications.
- Capacity to move service equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requirements for Veterans / SkillBridge
- Received an honorable discharge.
- Must be open to relocation after the first 12 months
- The program does not guarantee a permanent position at Red Oak, TX; thus, when applying for Field Service Representative roles at the end of the program, the apprentice will have to consider different locations (Schneider Electric has FSRs all across the nation).
- Must have the legal right to work in the U.S. by satisfying the I9 upon hire.
- Must successfully complete a background and drug screening test.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
- If SkillBridge, you need at least 3 months of work authorization starting March 3rd, 2025
