About the Role:
As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you’ll play a crucial part in fostering a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. You’ll perform audits, lead ergonomic assessments, conduct accident investigations, and deliver impactful safety training. Your work will be essential in ensuring our operations not only comply with safety standards but exceed them, continually improving the health and well-being of our employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain EHS programs to safeguard employee health, safety, and security while ensuring full compliance with government regulations and corporate policies.
- Provide expert EHS support to both management and manufacturing teams.
- Serve as an emergency responder for incidents and crises, leading preventative measures to stop future occurrences.
- Conduct thorough safety audits, inspections, and investigations, and provide actionable recommendations for corrective measures.
- Lead ergonomic initiatives aimed at reducing high-risk tasks across manufacturing operations.
- Chair the safety committee to foster a zero-accident workplace culture and encourage employee involvement in safety enhancements.
- Deliver comprehensive safety and environmental training, including programs on forklift and scissor lift operations, emergency planning, Lockout/Tagout, personal protective equipment, First Aid, and more.
- Manage safety documentation and reporting, including OSHA logs, monthly injury reports, and accident investigations.
- Adhere to Six Sigma and lean manufacturing standards to ensure a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, environmental safety, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 1 year in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Certification or willingness to become a certified First Responder.
- Ability to travel up to one week per month.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to connect with employees across all levels.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and solve problems swiftly.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and situations.
Physical Demands:
This position requires occasional standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and the ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds. No employee is required to lift over 50 pounds without assistance.
