Job Description
Cabinetworks Group is currently seeking a qualified Health & Safety Advisor for our Duncanville, Texas manufacturing facility. This salaried position will report to the Health and Safety Manager. This important, hands-on role is responsible for the further development and management of the accident prevention program and the laws that relate to the safety of our work environment.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare detailed project plans to track assigned projects and ensure timely completion and achievement of set goals.
Develop and facilitate safety related programs, meetings and training.
Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts.
Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
Establish and maintain effective working relations with governing agencies.
Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Assist our corporate insurance department to ensure proper documentation has been prepared and maintained for workers’ compensation claims.
Effectively foster a collaborative team environment throughout all levels of the organization.
Conduct new-hire safety orientation
Conduct a standing monthly safety meeting; set an agenda; type up minutes from the meeting; and e-file the minutes.
Ensure the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) files are properly maintained, up-to-date and accessible.
Partner with the Continuous Improvement Manager in conducting job hazard analyses for standard work instruction packets.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
5 + years of previous experience in a Health and Safety role
Prior safety experience in a cabinetry manufacturing environment is highly desired
Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety or relative field is preferred but not mandatory
Certifications of OSHA 10, OSHA 30 or Certifications of CSP (Certified Safety Professional) are highly desired
The ability to make independent judgments concerning the general safety of workers
Team player with a professional image, capable of handling highly confidential information
Exercise excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
Proficient in MS Office Suite
