Our client in the Agricultural Industry, requires the services of an Environmental Specialist to join their team.

Key performance areas:

Developing and implementing environmental standard requirements for suppliers.
Providing technical support to suppliers, helping them achieve and maintain the required standards.
Implementing environmental legislation, policies, and best practices.
Assessing, analysing, and compiling environmental performance data to track sustainability efforts’ effectiveness.
Conducting environmental compliance and legislation training sessions in person and through online webinars.
Staying updated on relevant environmental legislation, local and global, as well as compliance requirements.
Reviewing and evaluating Environmental Self-Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) to assess producers' compliance.
Collecting data from the platform, compiling monitoring and evaluation reports, and documenting progress and findings.
Conducting on-site verifications and farm inspections with the readiness to travel as needed.
Delivering training to ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
Writing and compiling articles, policies, and other materials for newsletters and other communication channels.
Developing training manuals to support various sustainable initiatives.
Overseeing shared platforms, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date.
Supporting general office administration and manage communication and engagement tasks.
Implementing and maintaining digital recordkeeping systems efficiently.
Confidently communicating on Net Zero and carbon reduction strategies and goals

The successful candidate must have:

Matric with a Bachelor of Science qualification.
At least 3 years’ experience in the Agricultural Industry or postgraduate data management qualification.
Must have an understanding of environmental conservation practices and environmental legislation to mitigate soil, water, biodiversity, and pollution impact.
Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage, analyse effectively report on statistical data.
Excellent computer literacy (MS Office – Outlook, Word & Excel).
Familiarity with digital tools and technologies used in agriculture, such as farm management software, IoT devices, and precision agriculture systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills to identify challenges and drive implementation of digital recordkeeping systems.
Have outstanding interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to present to and engage with large groups effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have a driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
