We're looking for a Climate Change and Cultural Heritage Specialist to join our team in Milano, Italy.
The newly established CMCC Advanced Training and Education Center,locatedin Milan, is looking for an expert on innovation and climate-cultural heritage nexus. The successful candidate will support the CMCC team in leading the innovation and networking activities in the framework of the SD WISHEES project.
SD WISHEES aims to enable strategic coordination and cross-sector collaboration between national (R&I) funding members, researchers, innovators and a wide variety of stakeholders to address together the protection of cultural heritage in Europe and beyond in response to more and more frequent and severe hydroclimatic extreme events such as droughts and floods.
For this position, we welcome applications from experts with a solid knowledge in climate adaptation policies and strong interest in cultural heritage management. The candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary team and work on exploring, understanding and reporting on the global climate resilience and cultural heritage protection, as well as on accelerating the development of innovative solutions for adapting cultural heritage under a changing climate.

We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey that will further boost CMCC’s global position in climate change research…Together!To learn more about this opportunity and submit your application, please refer to the following:ROLEThe Climate Change and Cultural Heritage Specialist reports to the Advanced Training and Education Centre (ATEC) Director.RESPONSIBILITIESSpecifically, the successful candidate will (but not only):- Lead cutting-edge research and innovation on the climate-cultural heritage nexus, including the production/contribution of scientific articles and science-policy reports and their dissemination at scientific workshops and conferences.
- Proactively scout for new innovative solutions and ideas on cultural heritage protection under a changing climate.
- Develop partnerships and networks with innovators, academia, policy-makers, the private sectors and media to build and provide a space to nurture new and innovative ideas, and build capacity on cultural heritage management facing climate change.
- Document tested innovation projects and processes and ensure effective sharing and generation of knowledge at European and international level.
- Support the organization of international workshops and events targeting a diverse range of stakeholders at EU and international level.
REQUIREMENTS - Master in social sciences, climate change, sustainable development, or a related field.
- Proven experience in European and international research projects
- Scientific and technical knowledge on the intersection of climate change and cultural heritage.
- Experience in conducting capacity building activities and stakeholder engagement at international and European level
- Experience in developing and managing innovative processes, solutions and/or services is an asset.
- Fluency in English in both writing and speaking; proficiency in any additional language is an asset.
- Willingness to travel to project meetings and conferences;
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment committed to high-quality research.
- Quantitative Skills and programming are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving attitude.
- Attention to detail and good time management skills.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS- Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
- The Specialist will be based in Milan CMCC office.
- Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience.
- Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
- Flexible working time as per internal policies.
- Support during the immigration process, if needed.
