Role Purpose:
We currently have a vacancy for a Sustainability Specialist within the Sustainability Netherlands department. The location is Geertruidenberg, Netherlands. In this position you will regularly travel within the Netherlands and be in close contact with various employees from our branches in the Netherlands. For consultation with the Site Managers, local departments, and the Global Sustainability Team.
The main tasks for this position are:
Coordinating and following up on various permits such as the environmental permit and the excavation; permit for our branches in the Netherlands. Guiding local employees in implementing legal requirements, permit conditions and sustainability aspects;
Proactive monitoring of legislation, regulations and planning processes;
Providing a strategic contribution and advice with regard to ensuring the long-term continuity of Sibelco in accordance with the policies and guidelines;
Proactively building and maintaining relationships with governments, municipalities, local residents; consultancy firms, etc. Managing Sibelco's reputation among these stakeholders and communities;
Collaboration in a European context with Sibelco's European and global sustainability organization; Implementation of European and global environmental and sustainability projects in the Netherlands.
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who:
Preferably completed a university degree in environmental management or a law degree;
Has relevant work experience where specific knowledge or experience in environmental, environmental and/or spatial planning law is an advantage;
Preferably have experience with the environmental management system (ISO14001);
Is a strategic thinker who can translate this into concrete advice and plans;
Good at building/maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders and external parties such as governments;
Is diplomatic and can act as a decisive ambassador;
Has demonstrable experience in carrying out projects;
Can function both as a team player and also work well independently;
Has strong communication skills;
Has a good command of the Dutch language.
