Position Overview:
Boyd Jones is seeking a results-driven Equipment Manager to lead the equipment operations for large-scale utility solar projects. This role is critical in ensuring that all equipment and tools are efficiently procured, managed, maintained, and optimized for performance. The Equipment Manager will spearhead initiatives to reduce costs, improve utilization, and support project success by strategically deploying equipment and tooling across various sites. This position requires a strong leader who excels at vendor management, equipment logistics, and maintenance planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fleet Management: Take full ownership of the equipment fleet, ensuring all assets are strategically deployed, well-maintained, and fully operational across all project locations.
- Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong partnerships with equipment suppliers, rental providers, and transport vendors to secure the best rates and ensure timely deliveries.
- Procurement & Inventory Control: Oversee the procurement, tracking, and inventory management of all equipment and tooling, ensuring standardized processes and optimized inventory levels.
- Maintenance & Safety: Establish and manage a proactive maintenance program to maximize equipment life, reduce downtime, and ensure all equipment meets safety standards.
- Logistics & Coordination: Coordinate the transportation and movement of equipment between sites, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing unnecessary downtime.
- Capital Planning: Advise capital expenditure (CapEx) decisions by recommending equipment investments that align with project goals and future company growth.
- Damage Prevention: Develop and implement an equipment damage prevention program to reduce repair costs and protect valuable assets.
- Cost Control: Collaborate with project teams to forecast and track equipment-related job costs, delivering accurate reporting and improving project financial performance.
- Training Programs: Lead the development and implementation of equipment operator training programs to ensure machinery's safe and efficient use across all projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and improve equipment processes, including utilization of metrics, damage prevention, and vendor performance.
Qualifications:
- Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an equipment management role, with strong experience in construction or industrial settings.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of equipment tracking systems, maintenance protocols, and inventory management best practices.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage teams and vendor relationships while driving efficiency and cost control.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Senior-Level Experience: 3-5 years in a senior equipment management role, preferably in the renewable energy or construction industries.
- Industry Insight: Familiarity with large-scale solar project equipment and tools, and an understanding of construction best practices.
