ABOUT THIS POSITION
Senior Supplier Quality Energy – Batteries/Electrical Commodities
Location: China (Mainland)
Fluence Energy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Supplier Quality Leader to join our Energy Storage team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supplier development and supplier quality management across global operations. This role is critical in driving the development of high-performing suppliers and ensuring the delivery of high-quality components of energy storage systems, to support Fluence’s mission of transforming the global energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead supplier development efforts for key suppliers across global locations, ensuring they meet Fluence’s stringent quality standards for critical energy storage components like lithium-ion and NMC battery modules, inverters, and energy storage systems.
· Work closely with suppliers to establish and implement robust quality systems, driving continuous improvement in supplier performance and enhancing the quality of products delivered to Fluence.
· Conduct regular supplier quality audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and industry best practices in energy storage technology manufacturing.
· Partner with suppliers to develop corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA) to resolve quality issues and ensure long-term improvements in critical energy storage components.
· Manage supplier qualification and validation processes for new suppliers and new products, ensuring all components meet Fluence’s requirements before being integrated into production.
· Collaborate with internal teams such as procurement, engineering, and manufacturing to align supplier development initiatives with Fluence’s global business objectives.
· Oversee global supplier management, including monitoring supplier performance, assessing risks, and ensuring that suppliers deliver consistent, high-quality products across multiple regions.
· Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by ensuring supplier readiness during the development and launch phases of energy storage systems.
· Serve as the primary liaison with global suppliers, fostering long-term relationships and ensuring continuous improvement aligned with Fluence’s quality and operational goals.
· Willingness to travel domestically/Internationally up to 40%
Key Deliverables:
· Root Cause Analysis reports – Focused on addressing quality defects.
· Lessons Learned or Quality Bulletins – Documenting and sharing insights gained from quality challenges.
· Technical review reports – Covering electrical commodities and supplied goods, including analysis of non-conformance (NC) trends and improvement areas.
· Supplier Audit Reports – Regular assessments of supplier performance and adherence to quality standards.
· Monthly reports to management – Summarizing key metrics, trends, and performance for upper management review.
Qualifications:
· Minimum 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality Management, Supplier Development, or a related field; an experience with energy storage sector is highly preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a focus on energy storage, electrical engineering, or renewable energy is highly preferred.
· Extensive experience in Supplier Quality Management and Supplier Development within the energy storage industry, with experience managing global suppliers.
· Proven track record of improving supplier performance and managing supplier quality issues in high-demand, global environments.
· Strong knowledge of quality systems such as APQP, PPAP, 8D, RCCA, and FMEA for energy storage systems and components.
· Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage suppliers and cross-functional teams across global regions.
· Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) and supplier management throughout the product lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP) or a similar certification.
· Expertise in supplier risk management and capability assessments within the energy storage or electrical industry, technical engineering experience with battery cell, module or BMS will be a plus
· Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 quality management systems, especially within battery or energy storage manufacturing.
· Experience with global supplier performance in regions like Asia and Europe, ensuring consistent quality across various locations.
· Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple suppliers and projects across global regions.
