For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. What will you do?
The Preconstruction Estimator position is held by an experienced estimator who shows the willingness and desire to lead. This role is designed to be a player/coach role and will be responsible for estimating and day to day management duties. This position will be relied upon to actively manage the workload pipe utilizing BFO and manage the day to day activities in support of their assigned regions. The Preconstruction Senior will play a role in mentoring and coaching the other members of the PreCon team and be involved in the development plans of all PreCon team members. They will work with the respective pre-construction manager for the “HR” type responsibilities for the team members they oversee as the team members will remain a solid line to the pre-construction manager. When necessary, the Senior will actively engage in recruitment and interviewing of future team members.
- Responsibilities:
- Manage and support day to day activity of local pre-con resources
- Manage flow of work and assign to team members based on bandwidth and experience
- Assist sales in qualification and prioritization of projects.
- Process and Technical coaching for team members
- Advocate for new initiatives within the PreCon organization
- Support roll out of new initiatives and assist in communication to the local Branch team.
- Coach and mentor for new employees
- Responsible to be the local pre-con leader to the branch business you support. Attend Branch meetings (sales, path to plan, leadership) meetings as applicable to understand branch strategy and manage plan to support.
- Obtain feedback from local Ops and sales teams for lessons learned and employee development.
- Estimating:
- Develop turnkey estimates for Building Automation projects
- Prioritize assigned projects/tasks in order to meet sales schedule
- Review customer specifications/drawings to ensure quote is technically compatible and competitive
- Understand, analyze, document, and communicate technical terms and conditions relative to the company standard
- Coordinate and verify subcontractor quotations and scopes of work
- Develop detailed scope letters and optimal system designs
- Attends and run pre-bid meetings, and site walk-throughs for potential projects
- Consult with operations, engineering and sales groups throughout the tendering process and brainstorm/volunteer ideas with the team to lower costs
- Reconcile final job costs after internal and external project review meetings.
- Support sales calls as needed
- Develop & Maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships
- After project award, turnover the project to the operations team effectively. Identify and document discrepancies in plans and specs
- Support in vendor scopes, pricing, and running reports. Job shadow and cross-train as needed
- Complete required technical training in order to increase proficiency in the above activities

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of idustry related experieince with 1+ year of estimating
