ROLE OVERVIEW
The Project Engineer III will support engineering and quality control efforts for Pivot’s projects during construction and commissioning and will provide technical assistance as needed for operational assets. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing construction drawings, PVsyst reports, and commissioning documents to ensure projects meet the requirements of Pivot’s Technical Specifications and industry best practices. This role will also coordinate with Independent and Owner’s Engineers to address technical questions and collaborate with internal project management and finance teams to support project financing activities. The Project Engineer III will serve as a technical lead and will be expected to complete day-to-day tasks with only occasional supervision and support.
This position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences. The position will include frequent external interaction and requires a high degree of professionalism.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Support the development of project quality control standards, processes, and tools used in the engineering, construction, and commissioning of community-scale solar and energy storage systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to address technical issues and ensure timely execution of project activities, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Conduct on-site and remote inspections on active construction sites and operational assets to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
- Review and analyze engineering plan sets, equipment submittals, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory codes, and Pivot quality standards.
- Identify lessons learned and value engineering opportunities from construction projects.
- Coordinate with internal project management and finance teams to support project financing and diligence activities.
- Review and respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFI) with urgency and professionalism.
- Collaborate with Owner’s Engineers and Independent Engineers to maintain strong working relationships and address project-related challenges.
- Assist Pivot’s Operations and Maintenance team in reviewing operational asset production data and troubleshooting issues, as needed.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES- 4+ years of experience in community-scale solar PV and energy storage engineering and construction.
- Knowledge of photovoltaic system design, and battery energy storage system design. National Electric Code, International Fire Code, and other relevant building codes.
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical design and equipment.
- Knowledge of utility distribution requirements, equipment, and design.
- Working knowledge of PVsyst and system performance analysis.
- Knowledge of solar, battery energy storage, and electrical commissioning and testing standards and techniques. Especially the International Electrical Testing Association’s Standard for Acceptance Testing Specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing programs.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with an aptitude for professionally building trust and rapport.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
- Must have a constant sense of urgency and an “action-oriented” mentality with comfort operating in undefined spaces, and a desire to create systems to standardize undefined processes.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES- Four-year engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university; electrical, mechanical, or energy focus.
- E.I.T. certification or PE license.
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional, PV System Inspector, or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist Certification.
- Extensive knowledge of solar and storage project construction means and methods.
- Experience reviewing EPC contracts for deliverables and technical requirements.
- Working knowledge of Procore and Smartsheet.

$100,000 - $160,000 a year
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on relevant experience, along with eligibility for the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in the first year based on start date).
