The Manager, Sustainability will play a leading role in sustainability reporting strategy and development of relevant disclosures, while contributing to dynamic corporate strategy and leading implementation of initiatives to strengthen the company’s environmental, social, and governance efforts. Areas of focus will include transparency and reporting, collaborator communications and engagement, corporate sustainability strategy, and support for company initiatives in areas that may include climate change, responsible sourcing, and human rights.
Responsibilities:
- Management of the company’s public and internal sustainability reporting and communication efforts, including preparing reports, communications, and training on Vertiv’s sustainability performance; support for internal and external inquiries concerning sustainability issues; and engagement with standards bodies
- Be the expert and take the lead on LCA assignments and develop the resources on the subject matter of sustainability.
- Partnering with Global Communications and Marketing and other teams to define and implement Vertiv’s sustainability-related internal and external engagement, communications strategy, and thought leadership.
- Work cross-functionally with many different stakeholders to integrate sustainability concepts into the delivery and operations of existing and new products and services.
- This opportunity requires strong knowledge of Scope 3 emissions, sustainable design and construction, an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and project management skills as well as the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, technical environment.
- Highly independent, while a strong team player, being a self-starter, an analytical aptitude, and the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support sustainability reporting-related efforts including but not limited to responses to external inquiries and engagement with sustainability-related rankings, ratings, surveys and standards bodies.
- Leading discrete projects to strengthen Vertiv’s sustainability strategy and improve environmental and social impacts.
- Serving as an internal consultant and advisor: Researching, offering recommendations, and taking action to address emerging sustainability issues, standards, and best practices.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
Requirements:
- BS or MS Degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Required.
- 5+ years’ experience with corporate sustainability program management preferably in a Technology/Electronics Manufacturing Industry.
- Hands on experience with embodied carbon studies, life cycle assessments (LCA) and environmental product declarations (EPD),
- Added advantage of having exposure to Digital passport or other sustainability disclosure programs.
- Exposure to Bill of Material management systems (ex. Oracle PD, Agile, Team Center)
- Demonstrated experience with project/program management.
- Strong analytical skills and should have the ability to evaluate, analyze and present data.
- Empathetic collaborator whose style builds commitment and engagement.
- Intellectual curiosity about determining root causes to solve complex problems.
- Self-motivated, driven individual who is comfortable working in a global, matrixed, fast-paced environment.
- Clearly exchanges thoughts, ideas and messages through written, verbal and non-verbal methods that promote an understanding with the target audience. Creates accurate and punctual reports, shares information and ideas with others in a timely manner. Listens carefully and attentively.
