The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with DMWM at our Central District Office in Columbus, Ohio.

You’ll ensure remediation programs for scrap tire, solid waste, and construction and demolition debris (C&DD) dumps are operating correctly and are compliant with state and federal rules. You’ll travel to all of Ohio’s counties to conduct site evaluations, prepare scopes of work, and monitor contractor performance at job sites. When you’re not in the field, you will be responsible for project tracking, processing of applications and invoices, contract preparation, and assisting the team with enforcement actions.
You’ll educate the public, industry personnel, and officials on Ohio’s remediation programs by presenting at meetings and seminars and provide regulatory oversite and assistance to scrap tire generating businesses to curb tire dumping.

- Coordinate with and monitors contractor performance at scrap tire, solid waste and C&DD remediation projects.
- Review applications for inclusion into remediation program to determine compliance with state regulations.
- Provide outreach and technical assistance to industry, district office, health department staff, and the public regarding the scrap tire and remediation programs.
- Inspect scrap tire generating businesses to evaluate compliance with state regulations.
- Assist district staff in coordinating enforcement actions, case preparation, document drafting, tracking, and overall case management.
