The Senior Standards Engineer will support a diverse portfolio of standards and drive initiatives aimed at improving products, services and processes that reduce environmental risks and promote sustainable development, to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Senior Standards Engineer will leverageexpertise to address environmental impacts of consumer and industrial products across the value chain, with focus on renewable and clean energy, circular economy, climate adaptation, resilience, and broader sustainability landscape. As a subject matter expert, the Senior Standards Engineer will synthesize scientific insights and research development discoveries into actionable strategies to support the advancement of ULSE standards and refine testing methodologies.

What you’ll learn and achieve:
As the SeniorStandardsEngineer, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:
Lead and manage sustainability focused project initiatives to integrate broader sustainability ecosystem in ULSE standards development processes and drive improved environmental performance in consumer and industrial products, with focus on renewable energy, circular economy and climate resilience.
Serve as a recognized resource for guidance on technical components of the standards development process. Leverage expertise in sustainability related fields such as greenhouse gasses, carbon management, and energy efficiency to enable the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety standards.
Conduct and drive life cycle assessments (LCAs) of products and services, assessing their environmental footprint, including carbon impacts, energy uses, and overall sustainability metrics.
Analyze products, standards, and testing methodologies to gather insights and inform the preparation and composition of gap analyses, testing procedures and technical reports.
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, actively engage external stakeholders, and represent the organization through presentations, trade show and conference attendance, technical committees, panel discussions, and publications.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:
Technical experience in applying or interpreting standards requirements including UL, ASTM, NFPA, ISO, or IEC standards preferred.
