What You’ll Do:
As an Environmental Specialist, you will work with a team of experienced professionals to ensure compliance with evolving environmental regulations for natural gas powered and renewable generating facilities. You will compile and prepare environmental reports for regulators, track environmental metrics, and support facility improvement and construction projects by providing assistance on environmental matters within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project development, construction and commercial operations departments
- Prepare reports for local, provincial, and federal regulators.
- Compile data for and complete regulatory reports such as ECCC GHGRP and NPRI. Support the implementation of sustainability initiatives and internal ESG reporting.
- Oversee environmental consultants and coordinate with external contractors.
- Provide support on special environmental projects, permitting, and field measurements.
- Conduct field inspections at construction sites and operating facilities.
- Raise environmental awareness at the facility level and track improvements.
- Manage environmental data for reports.
- Maintain environmental management systems and conduct internal audits.
- Develop new environmental processes and procedures.
- Monitor changes to environmental regulations and evaluate impacts to business.

Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of work experience in a natural gas or renewable power generation setting is an asset.
- Ability to understand technical aspects of the construction and operation of electricity generating facilities.
- Previous experience in conducting environmental audits and managing environmental data. Familiarity with environmental management systems and compliance reporting is a great asset.
- Some knowledge of environmental regulations and their application in renewable energy and or natural gas power plant construction and operation.
- Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
