ResponsibilitiesWe have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant / Senior Planner to join our successful and growing Environment Planning team.
The Environmental Planning team specialise in providing advice to a wide-range of private and public sector clients and are proud to be involved in leading some of the UK’s largest and most high-profile projects. These span from regeneration sites to wind farms (onshore/offshore), hydrogen and energy generation/transmission, minerals, waste, and transport.
WSP offers internal mentorship for those progressing through their Chartership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
The candidate will have demonstratable experience across the planning and EIA spectrum, a proven ability to deliver to a high standard, strong communication skills, passion to share their knowledge and a desire to learn and contribute to the on-going success of our team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude. Ideally, you already have experience of Legislation and Planning Policy, but this is not a pre-requisite.

Key Responsibilities
The role will involve:
- Key activities will include desk-based research, data management, managing environmental teams and report writing;
- Providing clients with the appropriate technical and environmental consenting advice in relation to TCPA Planning Permissions, Section 36/Section 37 Consents, Development Consent Orders and similar consents;
- This will be across project lifecycles from early strategy development, through feasibility/optioneering to detailed design and assessment, including the production of documents for pre-application, planning application and EIA purposes;
Representing our clients to key stakeholders, regulators and the public
Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and experience of the UK planning system.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, to deliver carefully considered solutions to produce high quality work
- The ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and industry
- An RTPI accredited undergraduate or masters degree in Town Planning
- Working towards or having achieved Chartership with RTPI
- A full driving Licence
