This position, based in Milford, MA, reports to the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), and executes hands-on environmental compliance functions, providing education and tools to employees and managers as required to ensure compliance with environmental regulatory requirements for all three Nitto Avecia sites in Cincinnati, OH, Irvine, CA and Milford, MA. Further, this position is the key coordinator of the company’s Sustainability programs, also known as Environmental Social Governance (ESG) or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
This position coordinates or performs the collection of key performance indicators, maintains environmental compliance documentation and makes recommendations for continual improvement of both the EHS and Sustainability management systems. This position is the main point of contact with regulatory agencies around environmental compliance and with Nitto Avecia clients around Sustainability, in partnership with the rest of the EHS team based at each of the three Nitto Avecia sites.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare or coordinate preparation of periodic environmental reports such as those required for compliance with Tier II EPCRA, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), Biennial Hazardous Waste (RCRA), wastewater discharge reports to local authorities and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Massachusetts Toxic Use Reduction (TURA), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), etc.
- Maintain relevant site permits such as air emissions, wastewater discharge, hazardous materials storage, etc.
- Maintain required documentation for environmental compliance
- Represent the organization during environmental regulatory inspections
- Serve as Nitto Avecia’s internal subject matter expert (SME) on Sustainability
- Directly support and create processes to manage external surveys that are crucial to Sustainability management, e.g. EcoVadis, Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI), etc.
- Lead or, at a minimum, participate, in all company teams focused on Sustainability to ensure alignment and support of the Sustainability strategy and ensure collaboration across teams
- Develop and present interactive training sessions that effectively educate and inspire action
- Facilitate or coordinate audits of facilities and site operations
- Travel required approximately 10%
Required Skills
- Master’s (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree (required) in environmental engineering or closely related field with 10+ years of hands-on experience, including requirements from local, state and federal agencies such as EPA, MassDEP, Cal/EPA, etc.
- Superb leadership skills, including effective communication and the skill to influence across all hierarchical levels of the organization, required
- Detail orientation, organization and program management skills required
- Desire to learn through on-the-job experience, formal and informal research, required
- Capability to effectively collaborate with other EHS team members, e.g. mentoring, advising, supporting, etc., to maintain a strong EHS management system, required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required
