Environmental Health & Safety Professional | Independent Contractor
Job Summary:
As Occupational Health and Safety Professionals at CMI, we prioritize the implementation of best practices, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and cultivating a culture of safety enhancement in targeted projects and or facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the management of the facility's health and safety programs, processes and policies.
- Oversee the Safety Committee and conduct monthly meetings.
- Commit to safety and health excellence.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, accident investigation, documentation and OSHA VPP efforts.
- Implement and enforce safety and health policies.
- Manage the safety training program, ensure completion of all relevant training.
- Oversee contractor safety performance, ensuring proper training and equipment use.
- Ensure fire system inspections, testing, and functionality.
- Contribute to lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvements.
Requirements and Experience:
- Minimum of 7+ years of direct safety oversight experience in a heavy industry environment
- Experience working in a waste-to-energy plant required
- Must be fluent in English and French
- Comprehensive understanding of General Industry standards (1910)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to collaborate with teams across all organizational levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software applications
Education and Education and Credentials:
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field
- Lean Six Sigma credentials highly preferred
- OSHA 30 General Industry certification
- First Aid CPR AED certification
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to climb a ladder.
- Ability to stoop, crawl and bend
- Ability to lift up to 30lbs
Other Requirements:
- Background check and potential drug screening required for the position
- Overtime and flexible working hours may be necessary based on project demands
- Residence within a reasonable commuting distance
