About the Role
The Group Director, Critical Environments and Operational Excellence provides strategic leadership and clarity on Operations, Critical Environments and Health & Safety for the Group. Utilising an Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement mindset, you will ensure the competencies, systems and frameworks are available to facilitate high performance across the entire portfolio of data centre operations globally.
We’re making impactful and extensive renovation to our portfolio of Data Centres to make them suitable for the next generation of Data Centre servers, allowing Global Switch to position itself at the forefront of the AI revolution. This is an ambitious and exciting task, for which we need innovative people, with strong commercial acumen, who are passionate about continuously improving our operations to deliver excellence for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop programmes for embedding Operational Excellence within the minds of the operational team, country Managing Directors and site teams.
- Partner with regional leadership globally to identify operational best practices and drive global alignment through procedural alignment, development, training, and quality assurance programs.
- Engage a coaching and mentoring approach to the Continuous Improvement of all Health and Safety, Operational Excellence, Critical Environments activities across the portfolio. Delivering consistent and high performing resources globally through competencies, processes and procedures.
- Proactively identifying opportunities to introduce processes and practices that result in cost savings and performance efficiency across the business.
- Assist the Group Directors, and local site Managing Directors to develop programmes and annual budgets for operational spend.
- Provide and maintain guidelines regarding “end of life” infrastructure replacement, risk assessment and maintenance standards.
- Drive customer business reviews, lease/sales negotiations, SLA risks assessment and customer inquiries as necessary to support key strategic accounts.
About you
An experienced operational leader with strong engineering knowledge, you’ll have demonstrable experience of embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence in a Lean critical environment.
Key Requirements:
- Substantial experience of managing operations in a critical environment focused business, preferrable in a Data Centre but this is not essential.
- Strong ability to influence and motivate at all levels of a business, with the drive to see through change.
- A clear Safety first ethos, with a deep knowledge of Health and Safety management.
- In depth knowledge of Operational Excellence principles and demonstrable use through continuous improvement.
- Experience of working with employees in different geographical locations, with an understanding and respect for different cultures and ways of working.
