Job Summary:
Park Services is responsible for performing a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks. This position is a regular full-time position working 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include cleaning and restocking public bathrooms and pressure washing shelters, tables, and walkways, cleaning, sweeping, polishing, waxing, vacuuming, and maintaining bathrooms of Jekyll Island Authority buildings. Work involves public contact, customer service, as well as working cooperatively with others to ensure a positive guest experience is required.
Description:
- Performs custodial work necessary to maintain buildings and grounds in exceptional condition; scrubs, sweeps, mops, vacuums, waxes, and polishes floors; cleans restrooms; removes trash; and participates in other cleaning/disinfecting actions to keep assigned areas clean.
- Cleans public restrooms, restocks bathroom tissue, cleans mirrors and floors, and applies air fresheners.
- Ensures adequate cleaning supplies are maintained on route truck daily; requests and picks up supplies from the warehouse.
- Cleans buildings/structures as assigned; cleans fixtures, vacuums, and dust as necessary.
- Pressure wash shelters, tables, and walkways as required.
- Picks up and disposes of trash and debris and removes trash from bins as required.
- Ensures that the reservation forms are posted at the appropriate time and location.
- Performs various custodial duties as determined and directed by the supervisor and superintendent.
- Performs grounds custodial duties during special events.
- Attends and completes assigned training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 to 12 months of experience in cleaning and maintenance (or related).
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to follow guidelines and work independently; good communication skills.
- Manual skills to perform cleaning, utilize cleaning tools, operate vacuum cleaners, etc.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be reliable with availability on weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are required.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Exert up to 80 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
- The typical workday will be spent walking, standing, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping and crouching, kneeling, lifting, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive wrists, hands, or finger motions.
- Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping, and touching, with more than 50% of the time spent communicating, talking, and hearing.
- Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
- Required to perform in outdoor environmental conditions. Exposure to extreme heat, high humidity, occasionally adverse weather conditions, and occasional extreme cold.
- Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and exposure to chemicals.
- It may be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dust, mists, or poor ventilation.
- It will be subject to close quarters and function in narrow aisles or passageways.
- Noise levels are considered normal to loud.
