Job Description:
Summary:
The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include preparing design for DC and AC collection systems and power plant controllers. Projects will focus on design and analysis and will include preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations. The work will be related to renewable energy facilities. The person in this position will also be responsible for managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet clients' needs. The work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above
Knowledge and experience with solar DC and AC solar collection system design
Experience with power plant controllers
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of related experience
Experience with collection system studies including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage
Experience with energy storage facilities
Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.)
Experience with statistical analysis of solar and wind data, resource and net energy production forecasts (including uncertainty/variability analysis and loss assumptions), design, site conditions, and technology suitability
Experience with data collection, post-construction measurement campaigns (including power performance testing), and project contracts
Demonstrated project organization and management skills
Client-relationship and business-development skills
Experience with AutoCAD
A hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers working primarily from a home office. This position is/can be based out of Barr's Denver, Fort Collins or Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, Michigan; or Duluth, Hibbing, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, offices. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, location requirements, and Barr’s needs.

Compensation:
The anticipated base hourly range for this position is $43.00–$57.00/hr. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
