JOB SUMMARY: This position is in Region 5, Water Division, Permits Branch, NPDES 1. About Region 5 : Region 5 This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. MAJOR DUTIES: You will: Prepare or review permits (issuance, reissuance, and modification) for extremely complex or critical treatment, storage and disposal facilities or sources. Provide authoritative technical advice and support to state, local or tribal agencies regarding technical and/or scientific criteria and methods; implementation of pollution control requirements; and impacts of pollutants. Resolve critical, politically sensitive, and highly complex issues related to permit requirements and defend permits against legal challenges, along with Office of Regional Counsel (ORC).
