JOB SUMMARY: This position is in Region 5, Air and Radiation Division, Air Programs Branch, State and Tribal Planning Section. MAJOR DUTIES: You will: Provide professional scientific/technical, regulatory, and programmatic advice, oversight and assistance to state/local/tribal governments, non-governmental organizations and others on matters relating to the development, execution, and monitoring of environmental protection policies, plans, and programs. Provide technical and programmatic leadership for one or more specialized areas of environmental science such as air quality, emissions standards, air toxics, or comparable areas. Provide professional scientific technical oversight to state, local, tribal and other entities funded through Federal grants. Lead investigations and/or studies of environmental conditions in support of such activities as air quality assessments. Analyze scientific and technical environmental issues pertaining to such specialized areas as air quality, emissions standards and air toxics as it relates to air quality. You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
