We are seeking a Data Specialist with strong expertise in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, along with a solid understanding of reinsurance data. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and managing the ingestion pipelines for data from flat files and other sources into a data warehouse, ensuring accurate structuring and normalization. The ideal candidate will develop robust dashboards and conduct detailed analyses that drive business insights, supporting Nelnet’s expanding financial initiatives. Your contributions will ensure data is well-organized, reliable, and accessible for key decision-making in reinsurance and broader financial strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain ETL processes using Python and Snowflake to ingest data from various sources.
Become an expert in the reinsurance data structures and needs.
Working with the business leadership team to define requirements.
Build, structure, and maintain data warehouse to support reporting and analytics needs.
Design and build analysis and dashboards supporting strategic insights for key stakeholders.
Optimize data pipelines for performance, ensuring the scalability of solutions.
Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to identify data needs and address data-related issues.
Provide support for SQL Server, and SSIS processes as needed.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
ETL Expertise: Proficient in extracting, transforming, and loading data from flat files, Excel, and other sources into data warehouses, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data handling.
Reinsurance Knowledge: Strong understanding of reinsurance concepts and data structures, enabling efficient data processing and insightful analysis specific to reinsurance industry needs.
Data Modeling: Ability to design and structure data models for reporting and analysis, ensuring optimized performance and scalability of data pipelines.
Dashboard & Reporting Tools: Experienced in building dynamic dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms, translating complex datasets into actionable insights.
Data Analysis: Skilled in performing in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement, contributing to strategic decision-making.
SQL & Python Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of SQL for querying, and Python for automating data workflows, enhancing efficiency in data management and reporting.
Problem Solving: Adept at identifying data discrepancies or inefficiencies in processes and implementing solutions to ensure data integrity and seamless operations.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with business and technical teams to understand data needs and deliver results.
Starting salary range for this position is: $70,000 - $85,000
