Schneider Electric has a new opportunity for a Summer 2025 Electromechanical Hardware Intern in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are looking for a Electromechanical Hardware Intern with experience in the following areas:
What will you do?
- Utilize knowledge of electronics HW design and simulation systems or products to analyze design solutions.
- Evaluate and test product design solutions at a bench top and lab environment.
- Expand and modify existing firmware to meet marketing requirements
- Expand and modify existing firmware to meet design requirements
- Perform development (coding and/or testing) of a part of an embedded software solution whose specification and architecture are defined.
- Work with HW lead to develop and analyze solutions and perform competitive analysis.
- Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing.
- Interpretation of test results and other data. Ability to synthesize data into technical communication for effective written and oral presentation.
- Work with the product definition file: Schematic Capture, PCB & PCBA creation, BOM creation, and development of other specifications. Experience with Cadence tool suit preferred.
- Basic understanding of EMC.
What qualifications will make you successful?
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or software engineering, Computer Science or related engineering field. Master’s or PhD degree or candidate is a plus.
- Understanding of electronic circuits and circuit design
- Experience with wireless communications technologies and protocols such as Bluetooth and Zigbee - Zigbee Communication is a plus
- Desired analysis skills: Highly creative & inquisitive for design and system optimization. / strength of component & system analysis / Capable with electronics lab equipment for test and debug. Use of statistical techniques for analyzing empirical data
- This position is located in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa global design center and will require being onsite a minimum of 4 days per week from June-August 2025
