Job Description and Duties
In the Office of Construction Services and under the technical direction of a Senior Transportation Electrical engineer, serves as a Construction Electrical Specialist and may, as circumstances require, be assigned as a Resident Engineer for small Electrical Systems Construction projects. The Construction Electrical Specialist provides electrical technical assistance to Construction Resident Engineers who are the State's Representative on one or more construction contracts.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Electrical in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Electrical online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Transportation Engineer (Electrical) exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions
Position located in Richmond, Contra Costa County. While at their base of operation, employee will work in a climate-controlled field office under artificial light. The Senior Transportation Engineer will set working hours. Overtime and night work may be required, and vacations may be restricted during peak times of the construction project. The Construction Electrical Specialist will be exposed to loud noise, dust; extreme weather conditions at the project sites.
