DescriptionJob Summary:
Leads environmental compliance efforts while serving as the technical expert and site responsible safety and environmental official. Position is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the regional Safety, Health and Environmental programs to guide manufacturing, engineering and ergonomic objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for site level Environmental Performance data, and tracks consolidated plant metrics.
- Responsible for analyzing and tracking environmental compliance data and reports for the site.
- Responsible for annual planning of operational activities requested by NA DENSO which may include profit achievement targets, budget targets, safety targets, environmental targets, etc.
- Plan Environmental objectives for the site and deployment of NA DESNO plans related to air, water, waste, etc.
- Seeks out support from NA DENSO’s technical experts within the Safety and Environmental function to strengthen general knowledge base. Typical subject expertise areas include but not limited to Air Purity, Water and Waste Management.
- Files and maintains regulatory documents including, hazardous waste reports, State and Federal Air permitting forms, FAA and Department of Transportation (DOT) permitting documents, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) & State level enforcement letters, and contracts with vendors for Environmental site assessments, audit findings, etc.
- Provide engineering management support for compliant designs according to company standards.
- Acts as a coach and consultant for site management to support regional and local alignment of objectives.
- Evaluates team members’ work performance and assists in upgrading their development and talent.
- May perform other duties or tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering discipline. Occupational Health and Safety or related degree can also be considered.
- 5 to 8+ years of relevant experience required
- A combination of education and experience can be considered
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth technical knowledge of Environmental policies, procedures, and terms, including knowledge of legal issues and terminology related to Environment.
- Strong management skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
- Ability to negotiate and provide input and recommendations both internally and externally.
- Ability to coordinate and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Ability to comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including being on-call 24 hours per day.
- Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers rapidly and accurately and handle precise movements.
- Knowledge of appropriate office software applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Annual Salary: $91,000-$113,500

Typically, the position exerts up to 33 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move an inanimate object. Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Physical requirements include standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors. Unavoidable accidents and health hazards are unlikely.
