Your Challenge
EXP’s London office is currently seeking an Environmental Technologist to join their team. The successful candidate will be joining a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. This opportunity will be best suited for individuals that are self-motivated, hardworking, and passionate about the hazardous materials and environmental assessment field.
Your Responsibilities
- Conducting building investigations for Asbestos, Designated Substances, Mould, and other Hazardous Materials;
- Collecting air and bulk samples during the abatement of designated substances and hazardous materials;
- Providing engineering/technical reporting for projects involving the abatement of the aforementioned materials;
- On-site investigations of air quality including, indoor and outdoor air quality sampling and monitoring (instrumentation set up, calibration, data acquisition and analysis), and workplace exposure assessments);
- Analyzing phase contrast microscopy (PCM) air samples for airborne fibres using NIOSH 7400 method;
- Interpreting laboratory analytical results;
- Preparing written technical reports pertaining to surveys, site investigations and abatement monitoring;
- Completing Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESAs);
- Environmental Site Remediation (Underground Storage Tank Removals, Soil and/or Groundwater Remediation Oversight);
- Groundwater and surface water sampling;
- Liaise and communicate with clients and troubleshoot issues independently at the client site; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
The Skills, Knowledge and Abilities We Seek
- College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental/Geological/Civil Technician or Technology Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Natural Sciences;
- Experience in Environmental Consulting, Designated/Hazardous Materials Surveys, Phase I, II, III Environmental Site Assessments is preferred;
- Knowledge of Designated Substance Regulations including but not limited to Ontario Regulations 278/05, 490/09, 833 is an asset;
- Knowledge of Environmental Site Assessment Regulations including but not limited to the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Regulation 153/04 is an asset;
- Experience working in a fast-paced client services environment with developed client service skills is an asset;
- Strong communication and writing skills including the ability to write technical reports;
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary groups as well as independently;
- Highly motivated and able to work well within a team environment;
- Strong communication and organizational skills; and,
- Must be available to work during weekends and nights, as required
