ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Climate Change and Energy Conservation, is responsible for providing statistical analysis and reporting on energy consumption and climate change related initiatives for the Region to meet legislated and voluntary needs for energy, greenhouse gas and climate change reporting; acts as central data collection resource, assists and provides support to Departments to establish and improve energy data tracking and develop benchmarks; assists Departments in developing energy conservation, demand management and climate change action plans; develops and leads projects to improve energy data quality; compiles data and prepares reports on energy conservation; and delivers energy related communications and outreach activities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
• Provides statistical analysis on energy consumption and greenhouse gas data for the Region to meet mandates for climate change, energy, and greenhouse gas reporting.
• Acts as a central data collection resource for Departments to establish and improve energy data tracking, analysis and develop benchmarks.
• Supports Departments to develop and implement energy conservation, demand management and resiliency plans.
• Collects energy and fuel consumption data for all Regional activities and applies suitable statistical and graphical methodologies to analyze and report on the results.
• Develops user-friendly reports to assist in assessing energy, greenhouse gas and operational performance.
• Compiles data and prepares reports on Regional energy use, conservation and demand management plans.
• Liaises with Regional Departments and Province to acquire energy data and information and for reporting purposes.
• Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate.
• Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
• Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
• Develops energy strategies and recommendations for procurement of natural gas and electricity.
• Researches, evaluates, and recommends utility procurement programs.
• Identifies and resolves utility invoicing errors.
• Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Successful completion of a University Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the areas of energy management and conservation, including data analysis and management, performance measurement, project management and program implementation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of energy management topics including energy markets, energy, and greenhouse gas calculations, building and HVAC operations, fleet and vehicle operations, water, and wastewater processes.
• Demonstrated ability in the Region’s core competencies.
• Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications including knowledge of database design principles and energy management system.
• Sound project management skills to lead or coordinate projects with various groups.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and writing skills, to prepare reports and coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Demonstrated mathematical ability, including statistical analysis, multivariate regression, lifecycle costing and graphical interpretation.
• Strong ability to develop relationships and work in a welcoming and inclusive environment, where diversity is celebrated and where everyone can develop to their full potential.
