Description Of Job Duties
The North Central College Sustainability team works to implement projects on campus that promote sustainability. Such projects include energy and water conservation, waste reduction, gardening and educating the North Central College community. The sustainability student assistant should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, and will gain a broad experience in various aspects of sustainability. You will assist with outreach and overall operations of campus sustainability initiatives. Provide administrative support (e.g. paperwork, errand on campus). Assist with the campus garden. This involves correspondence with plot holders and Chartwells’ staff, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, etc. Assist with marketing the College’s sustainability efforts, such as creating posters, Facebook and Twitter posts, Pride articles, updating the website etc. Research various potential projects for campus and current environmental issues. Perform data entry and data management. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Minimum: Currently enrolled as a North Central College student in good academic standing. Strong written and verbal communication. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop. Understanding of social media. Public Speaking. Ability to take instruction, ask clarifying questions, and work independently. Some background in environmental issues (any classes, research, or interest). A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required.
