Internship : Lab Automation & Robotics in Vaccines R&D Environment, Belgium – 2024

Education required: You are regularly enrolled in Master’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, IT, computer science, electrical engineering or Automation in an Educational Establishment located in Europe.
Language requirement: French, English is a must
Other requirements: Process Specific Automation Design and Development, Testing and Validation
Nice to have: C programming; Deployment of ML models
Expected start date: As soon as possible
Duration: Ideally 6 months starting from September.
Requisite: The internship must be mandatory & done in the framework of the curriculum, for which an agreement must be signed between GSK, the student and the Educational Establishment.
Remuneration: according to Belgian legal requirements, the internship will not be paid. However, some expenses will be reimbursed.

What will you do? Where does the role fit?
Your duties might include:
- Design Automation Blocks:
- Create parametric automation blocks with built-in failure scenarios for upstream and downstream processes.
- Sensor and Actuator Selection:
- Choose appropriate sensors and actuators based on specific process constraints.
- System Development:
- Develop and implement automation systems for both upstream and downstream operations.
- Documentation:
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, process flow diagrams, and mechanical structure drawings.
- Develop specific tailored experiments on automation platform to test it
- Collaborate with different teams and be willing to provide them the best support possible.
- Select the most appropriate sensors and actuators for a pharmaceutical environment.
- Propose and implement pragmatic solutions to address operational technical and scientific issues while considering already existing knowledge
- Look for appropriate data sources and communication between the platform and GSK systems
- Actively participate to internal meetings including scientific / technical presentations for information or decision making
- Consult other team members to ensure consistency of the scientific/ technical approach or strategy
- Train equipment users on developed system after implementation
- Support scientists by troubleshooting issues they might encounter and create protocols to help them in their daily activities.
