Sustainability Analyst
We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Analyst to collect, process, and perform analysis on our sustainability-related data. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in data visualization, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
As a Sustainability Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in helping to advance our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for tracking and analyzing green building data, embodied carbon, and Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Your expertise will support the development and implementation of sustainability strategies that align with our organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
This role will report directly to the vice president of sustainability and will support sustainability regulatory compliance and initiatives throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze sustainability metrics such as energy consumption, waste production, and carbon emissions at both organizational and project levels.
- Collect, clean, and process data from various sources to ensure data quality and integrity throughout all stages of analysis.
- Utilize advanced data analysis tools, including SQL and PowerBI, to extract relevant data from our databases, create reports, dashboards, and visualizations of key sustainability metrics.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders, including KPIs, progress toward goals, and industry rankings.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sustainability experts to define business questions, data requirements, and actionable recommendations.
- Conduct statistical analyses to validate hypotheses and support decision-making processes.
- Support the sustainability department in compliance with environmental regulations and continuous improvement efforts.
- Stay updated on industry trends and innovative practices in sustainability and data analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in the construction or sustainability sector
- Strong proficiency in data collection, cleaning, and analysis techniques
- Expertise in creating data visualizations and dashboards using PowerBI (or equivalent tool)
- Advanced SQL skills for querying and managing databases
- Experience with statistical analysis and modeling
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R) for data manipulation and analysis
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data in an understandable manner
- Knowledge of sustainability concepts and metrics in the construction industry is a plus
Preferred:
- Experience with sustainability frameworks such as LEED, WELL, or BREEAM. LEED Green Associate accreditation
- Proficiency in developing presentations
- Certification in sustainability reporting (e.g., GRI, CDP, EcoVadis).
- Familiarity with sustainability assessment tools (e.g., LCA software, carbon footprint calculators).
Tools and Technologies:
- PowerBI for data visualization and reporting
- SQL for database querying (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Python for data analysis and statistical modeling
- Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis
- Version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative work
Salary: $100K - $115K
