Cook and Food Preparation Specialist - Food and Beverage Department
Position Summary: The Memphis Zoo is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Cook at the Memphis Zoo, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of food quality and guest satisfaction. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of delicious meals, adhering to recipes and quality standards, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure food preparation areas are clean, sanitary, and organized at all times.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of food and supplies, placing orders as needed.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely service.
- Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures, including temperature controls and storage guidelines.
- Assist in menu planning and development as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service and interact professionally with guests and team members.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a cook or in a similar role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary principles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
- A passion for food and a commitment to quality and guest satisfaction.
