SUMMARY:
The Photo Experience Supervisor is responsible for helping to lead the Photo Experience team in the absence of other management personnel. They will coach and mentor the team to achieve daily sales targets, are responsible for following correct procedures to open and/or close the Photo Experience POS terminals and preparing the photo equipment and staffing schedule for the day.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversees the daily operation of the Photo Experience area by:
- Creating staffing schedule in accordance with the expected visitor numbers and ensuring the department is operating in the most efficient way possible;
- Activating cash registers, cameras, and printers, having radios prepared;
- Reviewing the daily schedule, delegating tasks to the team accordingly, and making any last-minute changes that are required due to absent team members or other problems;
- Reviewing the daily opening checklist to ensure all opening steps are completed.
Completes the closing duties of the Photo Experience area by:
- Taking cash with another team member to the Cash room, and completing a daily sales report;
- Closing off cash registers, and printers in accordance with proper procedures, as well as completing end of day Photography procedures to ensure that equipment will be ready to use for the following day;
- Ensuring the security of photography equipment lockup;
- Reviewing the daily closing checklist to ensure all closing steps are completed.
Models excellence in customer service and photography by:
- Constantly evaluating environment, and customers for cues, and communicating information to the managers so that the team can respond as necessary;
- Processing and authorizing returns, and voids of sales transactions, assisting team members with any issues;
- Providing change for cash drawers as needed throughout the shift;
- Operating a sales register for cash, credit card, and debit transactions, in addition to the photo editing stations;
- Initiating replenishment, and organizing supplies as required;
- Assisting the Management team with training new employees;
- Performing daily housekeeping duties to ensure neatness, and cleanliness of the Photo Experience area;
- Ensuring equipment is well maintained and/or coordinating repairs as required;
Acts as a role model for other staff during the shift by:
- Demonstrating appropriate behaviours in carrying out all tasks including exhibiting excellence in photography and customer service;
- Dealing with difficult and/or emergency situations that occur throughout the shift, and calls for back-up assistance as appropriate, theft, medical or fire emergencies, upset team member or customer, IT issues with registers or photo editing stations;
- Answering a wide variety of general questions about the Aquarium, Stanley Park and the city;
- Participating in training new team members and contributing to creating and maintaining a positive team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- 1-2 years previous experience or education in photography
- 1-2 years previous experience in customer service
- 1-2 years previous experience in a leadership role
Skills
- Ability to supervise, monitor, and coach other team members in the absence of management
- Superior customer service skills
- Ability to interact with visitors in a courteous manner
- Ability to operate a sales register, and computer
- Ability to manage a number of tasks simultaneously
- Monitoring of cash, and photography equipment to control theft
- Knowledge of the photography packages, and merchandise for sale

Working Conditions
- Job requires the ability to safely lift and carry up to 30lbs;
- Job requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Job requires occasionally being exposed to outdoor weather conditions
- and to work outdoors at times;
- Frequent exposure to upset people in which problem solving will be required;
- Continual interaction with customers and team members;
- Frequent exposure to noise arising from a crowded, busy environment;
- Must adhere to the uniform & appearances guidelines;
- Flexibility and availability in schedule are required during the week, including evenings weekends and holidays. Job will occasionally require long hours during the busy season
- Must be available to work Sundays
Hourly Rate: $20/hour
