Summary: The Ice-Skating Rink Monitor provides on ice assistance to all ice rink guests. This position ensures a positive guest experience by communicating with guests and team members in a professional and courteous manner.
Essential Functions:
- Greets guests; answers general questions; Assists guest getting on and leaving the ice.
- Conduct routine ice rink walks and skate laps
- Responsible for the safe use/operation of ice-skating tools/equipment.
- Assist with maintenance and resurfacing of ice
- Follows company safety policies.
- Ensures that the ice rink is kept clean and uncluttered.
- Communicates with others immediately when responding to an incident or an emergency.
- Ensures a positive guest experience by communicating with guest and other team members in a professional and courteous manner.
Expected Hours of Work: This is a seasonal position. Will require flexibility in work schedule with early morning, evening, and daytime shift availability to provide coverage during Ice Rink Hours of Operations.
Minimum Requirements
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience working in entertainment, sports or hospitality organization.
- Bi-lingual or ability to effectively communicate with individuals who speak different languages.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR/AED.

Work Environment: Performing the duties of this job requires working in cold temperatures in an outdoor tented environment booth and has extensive interaction with the public. The employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions including wet and/or cool conditions, fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, or moderately loud when on Zoo grounds during peak times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to ice skate, stand, talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
