Responsibilities:
The Saint Louis Zoo Events Team is seeking an Events Coordinator that will be responsible for planning and producing public, ticketed, fundraising, and donor and member recognition events at the Saint Louis Zoo.
The planning and production of these events includes, but is not limited to working closely with other members of the events team, managing onsite event volunteers, communicating with a variety of internal Zoo departments (animal care team, attractions, audio visual, custodial services, distribution, education, facilities management, food service, catering, guest experience, member services, IT, rentals & retail, and safety & security). Additionally, the Events Coordinator will be responsible for managing a specified budget for each event, and tracking expenses.
In addition to planning and producing events, the Events Coordinator will work as a nightly lead for the Saint Louis Zoo’s event series that take place throughout the year (ex. Animals Aglow, Boo at the Zoo and Wild Lights), and assist in other planning and production aspects of our large fundraising events like Trivia Gone Wild, Make Tracks Through the Zoo, ZOOFARI, Jammin at the Zoo, and Zootoberfest.
The Saint Louis Zoo’s Events team plans and produces over 100 days/nights of public, ticketed, fundraising, and donor/member recognition events each year. Some of these events include: Untamed Hearts, Trivia Gone Wild, Animals Aglow, Breakfast with Bunny, Party for the Planet, Mother’s Day Brunch, Endangered Species Day, Make Tracks Through the Zoo, Zoo Friends Day, World Ocean Day, Deaf Day at the Zoo, ZOOFARI, Jammin at the Zoo, See Like Me, Zoo Parents Picnic, Zootoberfest, Boo at the Zoo, Zoo Dunnit, Holiday Zootique, Wild Lights, Breakfast with Santa, and Dinner with Santa.
In addition to these events, the Events team also plans and produces private events that are sold by the Event Sales team, as well as internal events. There are well-over 300 of these events per year, and all members of the Events team help support as needed throughout the year.
The Events team at the Saint Louis Zoo is a part of the Marketing team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of hospitality/event planning experience and a valid driver’s license are required. Must be positive, energetic, and capable of working under pressure and possess ability to set priorities, handle multiple tasks and work independently as well as thrive in a team environment.
Qualified candidates must possess strong administrative, math, interpersonal and organizational skills along with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Candidates must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. for 50 yards, stand and walk for extended periods of time, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and be willing to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
