DescriptionJob Purpose:
Assist VP in managing multi-disciplinary carbon reduction programs and working with teams to ensure decarbonization issues are assessed, understood, and managed (in the most practical and effective way) from construction through to operations.
Provide technical advice and guidance regarding business practices related to the assessment and enhancement of carbon reduction opportunities and programs. Ensure adherence to DP World Group Standards and Governance requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
- Assist the VP Energy Programmes in development, implementation and monitoring of DP World Decarbonization Strategy.
- Manage the reporting of carbon reduction and environmental concerns to stakeholders and direct line management.
- Review carbon reduction projects and plans, covering a broad range of issues (e.g., Power Purchase Agreements, Internal Carbon Pricing, equipment electrification, low carbon fuels, energy efficiency,).
- Assist in the development of monitoring and reporting programs, including annual carbon assurance and Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) submission.
- Assist the VP Energy Programmes in developing and implementing the Scope 3 supply chain engagement strategy.
- Mentor, advise & provide assistance to regional and business unit managers/representatives on carbon reduction projects across all Group divisions and operating entities (Ports and Terminals, Marine Services, Logistics, and Economic Zones).
- Understand carbon footprint impacts and co-ordinate/provide support to regions and business units to ensure that assessments are undertaken and appropriate plans for mitigation, compensation and monitoring are developed and implemented, as needed.
- Assist the VP Energy Programmes with the staff education and training development related to carbon reduction matters.
- Perform technical reviews on energy efficiency and carbon reduction technology as required.
- Develop a knowledge bank of the global carbon reduction regulations landscape to advise and report on current and potential impacts on the Group.
- Plan and manage carbon reduction due diligence assessments to assess risk and liability (e.g. for asset acquisition).
- Project manage carbon reduction aspects of construction and related design.
- Liaise with Head Office departments (such as sustainability, projects, investor relations, etc..) in support of joint initiatives and projects.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At minimum an engineering or business management degree.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in fields related to technical project management, energy & environment management, strategy/management consulting.
- Strong skillset in project management, preferably supported by relevant certification (e.g. lean six sigma belt, PMP).
- Passionate and knowledgeable about key trends around global energy transition, energy efficiency, environment preservation and decarbonisation.
- Strategic mindset, big picture thinker with an ability to focus on the details where needed.
- Proven team coordination, consultation, people skills and senior management advisory.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Sound working knowledge of ports marine and logistics industry preferred
