- Fixed term, full time from 21 October 2024 to 21 February 2025
- VPS 5.1 $106,534 to $117,716 + 11.5% superannuation
- Location: Preston, with expectation to travel across the region as part of the role

About the role:
You will manage a small team responsible for delivering EPA’s on-ground regulatory response in Northern Metropolitan Melbourne Region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage a team to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity.
- Manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive culture and the development of staff.
- Plan, oversee and deliver regulatory actions to prevent harm to communities and environment from pollution and waste.
- Actively participate in the conduct of investigations (under the direction of Environmental Crime Branch); and the delivery of preventative projects and compliance programs aligned to EPA’s regulatory priorities.
- Lead the analysis, negotiation, and timely resolution of compliance issues; provide local intelligence to inform the development of preventative projects and compliance programs aligned to EPA’s strategic regulatory priorities.
- Work collaboratively with co-regulators, duty holders, communities, local governments, and other partners to drive improved environmental and public health outcomes.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement in environmental regulation.
- Demonstrated experience and proven ability to lead a high performing team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the delivery of frontline regulatory operations to meet organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated knowledge environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste.
- Ability to be present at times and locations as required to successfully perform the role. This is usually satisfied by the possession of a current Victorian driver’s licence.
