This position oversees the development and administration of health, safety, and environmental management programs and policies. This role serves as a consultant to Executive Management and Operations Leaders, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The Director conducts detailed audits of Brady workplaces, identifies potential hazards, and recommends corrective actions. Collaboration with Corporate Leadership, Operations Management, Human Resources, and safety liaisons is essential to achieve objectives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The role will directly manage one or more associates to support the EHS initiatives of the organization, and will collaborate with appointed Technicians, Field Superintendents, Project Managers, and others who have safety-related responsibilities. The individual will collaborate with Managers, Supervisors and all Associates across all levels of the Company to provide consultative guidance, and mentoring, where needed and appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the EHS function following a philosophy of continuous improvement in environmental, health and safety areas.
- Lead EHS Program:
- Stay current on applicable state and federal laws and regulations; evaluate organizational needs/requirements; develop relevant policies, procedures, work aids and training; assist in training and implementation; and measure, analyze, and report on policy compliance and effectiveness;
- Develop and administer company-wide Environmental Health and Safety Policy and Compliance Plan, covering all company activities, including subcontractors;
- Collaborate with operational leaders to develop and implement appropriate processes, PPE requirements, and work aids to facilitate compliance with established policies related to environmental, health and safety areas;
- Collaborate with Training function to develop, implement, and direct relevant, role-based training programs, which meet OSHA and other regulatory requirements, across the organization;
- Monitor reports from Training function for compliance and record keeping;
- Develop and execute program to measure, analyze, and report on policy compliance and effectiveness, including random site inspections; and
- Establish environmental, health and safety standards for subcontractor prequalification; evaluate current and proposed subcontractors against established standards; and conduct periodic field surveillance of subcontracted operations and communicate deficiencies to responsible Operations personnel.
- Incident and Injury Management and Prevention:
- Conduct accident reviews with Operations Leaders and affected Associates to determine short-term containment and long-term corrective actions as necessary. Ensure corrective actions are completed timely. Lead the learning process to optimize organizational learning from the event;
- Perform incident trend analysis for hazard prevention and control;
- Partners with HR to actively evaluate and manage work-related injuries; and
- Collaborates with Third Party Administration of workers’ compensation program, including working with the insurance administrator to reduce employee lost time, and effective cost containment strategies.
- Recordkeeping and Compliance
- Develop and maintain EHS metrics, record keeping, and communications; provides leadership with current and historical EHS data for KPI metrics
- Oversee the OSHA recordkeeping process. Confidentially report results to all levels of the organization, and meet the regulatory posting requirements.
- Maintain currency of the online Safety Data Sheet system. Ensure Associates are trained and able to access relevant SDS information.
- Define and oversee the education and training of the workforce on emergency response procedures, handling hazardous materials, and other aspects of safety management
- Recommend and refer EHS capital expenditure items to responsible Operations Leaders for budgeting.
- Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as needed.
- Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel.
- Other duties may be assigned.
WORK HOURS: Monday thru Friday overtime/weekends as required

This position works in a typical parts store/warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
