Description
- The BESS Consultant shall have a 3-year experience as minimum either for designing, testing, commissioning, or operating utility scale renewable energy or battery energy storage systems.
- The BESS Consultant will also conduct techno-economic assessment, technical and safety due diligence, and tendering process for BESS investments.
- The BESS Consultant shall have expertise in several of the following fields:
- Lithium-ion battery system design and testing.
- Electrical design of battery-based energy storage technology.
- Civil, structural and electrical designs of battery-based energy storage project – design basis calculation, transport and storage arrangement, installation, data communication, commissioning, testing.
- Applicable standards, codes, guidelines, and regulations (including regulatory requirements) at BESS equipment-level and BESS project-level.
- Fundamental aspects and main characteristics of current battery technologies.
- Preparation of FAT and integration test plan for BESS systems as well as associated major equipment and components such as transformer, switchgear, etc., and technical review of documents provided by suppliers.
- Project management of bids and projects throughout their life cycle – their development phase till their decommissioning via their relevant project development phase and milestones.
- Tendering process and bid evaluations for BESS project investments.
- The BESS Consultant will work with a team of engineers, project managers, technology suppliers, and contactors to deliver high-quality and cost-effective BESS solutions for our clients.

Qualifications Requirements
- As a BESS Consultant for Electrical Expert or Civil/Structural Expert, you will be responsible for leading and delivering battery energy storage system (BESS) projects for DNV's clients.
- You will also be involved in business development, proposal writing, client relationship management, and market intelligence activities.
- You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with opportunities to learn from and contribute to the global DNV BESS community.
- You have a bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (or a closely related field), or in Civil/Structural Engineering (or a closely related field), or in Computational System Engineering (or a closely related field).
- You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the power grids or renewable systems industry, with a proven track record of delivering complex and challenging projects.
- You have strong client management, team management, and process management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse and multicultural team.
- You have project management and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- You are familiar with the relevant standards, codes and regulations for BESS system calculation and design (both civil, structural, and electrical), installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- You are willing to travel occasionally to support project delivery and business development activities.
