1. Support the Project Initiation Phase:
Support the Business Development team during commercial negotiations regarding construction queries and client clarifications.
Obtain quotations for IC approved projects, review, negotiate, and finalise EPC contracts with favourable terms.
Assist BD and Legal in the negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) and lease agreements.
Develop project scopes and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility related to construction for the Operational Risk Assessment (ORA).
Ensure resource availability and allocation, establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors, clients, and all stakeholders.
Evaluate potential subcontractors and assist in project financial controlling through provision of cash flows to relevant internal stakeholders.
Engage with the Technical Team for the revision of electrical, mechanical, and civil quality plans, inspection test procedures, and on-site inspections for contractors.
Comply with South African regulations and develop detailed project plans to track progress.
Perform risk management assessments related to construction to minimize project risks.
Apply for and obtain necessary regulatory licenses from relevant authorities (e.g., NEPRA distribution companies).
2. Implement the Project:
Execute EPC contracts, coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
Work closely with the Technical Team in the revision of electrical, mechanical, and civil quality plans and assist the Technical Team with design and structural calculations.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, facilitate the HSE department in ensuring HSE compliance on all sites and at the workplace.
Review and ensure appropriate progress & HSE reporting from EPC contractors.
3. Close the Project:
Oversee the commissioning of the project and obtain the commissioning package as standards from EPC contractors.
Finalize construction projects and hand them over to the Asset Management and O&M departments on time.
Monitor and assess customer satisfaction
Requirements
Essential:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
Minimum 8 years in a managerial role in construction/EPC projects.
Awareness of cultural differences and varying legal/regulatory environments.
Experience of working in a multinational, multi-segment, environment with matrix reporting.
Experience in Wheeling Projects and/ or Captive Projects (over 1MW +)
Experience in Utility Approval Process.
Preferred:
Project Management certificates (PMP or Prince 2).
Previous experience in PV Power Plant Project Management.
