Job Purpose
The Expert is an experienced team member of the Global Services (GS) business unit. They are responsible for planning and overseeing technical team activities to perform complex technical upgrades of customer solutions as well as install and deploy to customer environments. This role will require the individual to become an expert in Quorum’s enterprise software architecture, upgrade and deployment processes, including maintenance of heavily customized code, databases, and installations, and to mentor other team members in these areas.
What You Will Do:
- Manage end-to-end technical upgrades to latest software versions across dozens of enterprise customers, from incremental monthly patches to major upgrades of versions 5+ years out of date
- Perform complex technical tasks independently, including database upgrade packaging, custom database object remediation, analysis of code customizations, development of outdated custom features in latest code version, deployment of Azure DevOps pipelines, and on-premise environment installations
- Oversee work assigned to individual team members and manage work quality, timely delivery, and documentation. This includes proactively collaborating with junior team members to overcome any technical challenges and roadblocks.
- Balance workload priorities across multiple concurrent upgrades and deliverables for various customers
- Plan and execute upgrade project milestones including effort estimation, upgrade kick-off, technical validation, and production go-live cutover activities
- Demonstrate mastery and drive improvements for technical skills required for successful deployments & upgrades, such as: SQL, NuGet, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and in-house Quorum tools
- Lead team stand-ups and retrospectives to identify technical and process issues, discuss improvement ideas, and share knowledge
- Mentor team members to practice resourceful problem-solving and inspire them to achieve individual career goals and shared team objectives
- Oversee improvements to documentation around upgrade activities
- Serve as a Quorum Subject Matter Expert (SME) in client conversations while representing Quorum positively
- Serve as a technical expert in several areas of our products and architecture
- Oversee team implementation of standard best practices and identify possible improvements to technical processes & team workflow
- Understand, follow, and broadcast process changes to team members
- And other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in software deployments or development, preferably large enterprise solutions
- 1+ year(s) leading technical teams of 4+ people
- Strong programming skills (C# or .NET or similar) including developing enhancements, performing code reviews, and resolving bugs
- Strong database skills (SQL) including writing complex functions/procedures, converting and managing large sets of data, and troubleshooting issues
- Demonstrated ownership of own and team commitments to high-quality software deliverables and customer experience
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, technology, or other analytical discipline
- Development or deployment experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience with cloud solutions and complex integrations
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with TFS – In case developer needs to look at code previously developed in older versions
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot application bugs in Visual Studio
- Exposure to Oil & Gas domain
