Summary
Basic & detail Design Engineering activities for the assigned project(s) for process packages in the upstream oil & gas market, H2 Generation with Electrolysis. in accordance with the FIN’s established procedures.
Preparation / review of PFD, P&ID’s, project specific specifications, design calculation/analysis and simulation, requisitions for procurement.
Interface with other disciplines, vendors and clients.
Provides technical support to both discipline as well as project teams.
Preferably looking for knowledge of Hydrogen Domain.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Process Design & Detail Engineering including performing process simulations, design calculations, Process Optimization, sizing & selection of process internals and equipment etc. for pre-bid and for awarded Projects. Review of Clients RFQ documents, specifications, datasheets, verification of FEED design & calculations.
- Preparation of various engineering deliverables (Drawings & Documents) such as Process Flow Diagrams, P & I Diagrams, Process Datasheets, Equipment Datasheets, Cause & Effect Diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies, HAZOP Studies & reports, Operation & maintenance manuals etc. and providing necessary engineering inputs to the other disciplines and other departments.
- Preparation & Issue of RFQ’s/material requisitions, evaluation of vendor’s quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis etc.
- Ensuring planned engineering (process) progress with respect to the engineering deliverables for pre-bid and awarded projects. Planning of own activities effectively & efficiently.
- Responsible for department’s continuous improvement, meeting objectives and integration of lessons learned.
- Review of vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications and calculations.
- Responsible for providing guidance and oversight to multiple teams working on numerous products or developing various forms of technologies.
- Design and initial product specifications and manage scheduling.
Tasks
Engineering and design
- Ensuring the end product within his discipline is in line with the set specifications and the in-house design standards; consulting the Engineering Manager in case of deviation.
- Ensuring technical documentation, guidelines, and (in house) software is adequate and up to date.
- Providing feedback (‘lessons learned’) on design at evaluation.
- Providing support to Project team members (e.g. design and commissioning engineers) or clients with regards to technical aspects.
- Development of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Utility Flow Diagrams (UFD’s).
- Preparation and Modifications of P&IDs.
- Line Sizing (Single phase & Multi phase).
- Hydraulic Calculations for Pumps.
- Control Valve Calculation.
- Separator Sizing.
- PSV Sizing.
- Preparation of Instrument Process Datasheets (IPDS).
- Equipment Datasheet.
- Preparation of Line List and SM List.
- Preparation of DPDT Diagram.
- Datasheet of Strainers, Filters, Silencers etc.
- Preparation of Utility Summary and Battery Limit Schedule.
- Preparation of Hold List.
- Integration Study of Pipeline Network in PIPESIM.
- Chemical Consumption Calculation.
- Inbreathing & Outbreathing Calculation for Atmospheric Storage Tanks.
- Model Review.
- Updating of Interlock Description and Cause & Effect Diagram.
- Preparation of Pressure Profile Diagram & Safeguarding Diagram.
- Acoustic Induced Vibration (AIV) and Flow Induced Vibration (FIV) Analysis.
- Calculation of Cooling Tower.
- Vendor document Review of Pumps, Vessels, Raw water treatment package, Domestic Waste Water Treatment Package, Air compressor etc.
- P&ID Markups & P&ID change note (PCN).
- Helped to prepare HAZID CAR Closure Report & LOPA CAR Closure Report in RIL MEG project.
- Closure of HAZOP points in RIL MEG & SONATRACH South HGA project.
- Interdisciplinary Activities such as:
- Input to Electrical Department for Electric Tracing.
Engineering department
- Pro-active participation in regular meetings as defined in QMS.
- Participate in the department’s objectives by achieving the personal objectives.
Projects and work orders
- Reporting work-order and task progress regularly to both internal and external stakeholders (e.g. project managers).
- Ensuring delivery of the agreed work-order scope and reaching agreement with client about work-order closure.
Education / experience / competencies
- B.E. or B.TECH. / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering.
- Specialization in Petroleum / Petro Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to communicate (speak and write) in English at a professional level.
Experience:
- Minimum 15-17 years in Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Design Engineering (with minimum 5–8 experience in the upstream Oil & Gas industry, in consulting OR EPC company with Design & Engineering capability).
- Hands-on experience with design of glycol dehydration and fuel gas conditioning processes is a mandatory requirement.
Other Skills / Abilities:
- Hands on experience in software such as Honeywell UniSim, Aspentech HYSYS, Sulcol, etc.
- Conversant with the Engineering Standards such as API, NFPA, ASME, BS / EN etc. and Client Standards such as SHELL and SAUDI ARAMCO.
- Well conversant with Design codes, HSE and regulatory requirements such as PED.
