Role SummaryThe Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing Lighting & Mechanisms that make up the building blocks of the R1T, R1S, and Electric Delivery Vehicles. As a Senior Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in ensuring Rivian meets its cost targets, that suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and that parts are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish. This role reports to the Sr. Group Manager of the Lighting and Mechanisms team within the Procurement organization.
Responsibilities- Lead RFIs, RFQs, and strategic sourcing process for your parts.
- Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps.
- Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements.
- Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian Products.
- In collaboration with Cost Engineering, perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown data and identify negotiation opportunities.
- Ensure that the product is matched to the right supplier and ensure the supplier is effective in delivering the product in collaboration with Engineering and Quality.
- Drive and implement cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations to achieve vehicle cost targets.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics.
- Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure that best-in-class cost is attained.
- Manage vehicle budget in collaboration with Rivian’s Finance team.
- Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, provide appropriate products for each build milestone, and monitor supplier progress toward our timelines.
- Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience and knowledge, both technical and commercial
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical ability to break down complex problems and data sets to derive meaningful, actionable results
- Comfort in working independently and in teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Experience with automotive, electronic, or consumer products, and the manufacture thereof
- High level of integrity and desire to own one’s role and contributions to the cross-functional team
Pay DisclosureSalary Range for California Based Applicants: $98,500 - $130,480 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
