ResponsibilitiesWSP is a multidisciplinary environmental and engineering company and includes one of the UK’s largest planning and EIA practices. We provide a range of environmental planning and assessment services to public and private sector clients and have a proven track record in securing consents for some of the largest and most complex major development projects in the UK.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate / Associate Director to join our successful and growing Environmental Planning nationwide team, to lead our work in the onshore renewables sector. This post represents a challenging and exciting opportunity to contribute, manage and deliver environmental planning inputs to a range of projects, principally for onshore wind but to also cover solar, BESS and related developments for a wide client base. We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering effective planning and environmental advice and positively influencing the performance of renewables development projects.
YOUR TEAM
The role will involve working as part of multidisciplinary teams to deliver inputs across project lifecycles from site feasibility works, application compilation and submission through to discharge of conditions in the construction phase of developments. Most notably the work within the team involves:
- Leading and supporting colleagues across the WSP business in providing clients with the appropriate technical and consenting advice in relation to onshore renewable projects.
- Management of projects and maintaining budgets to deliver high quality outputs to meet both internal and client requirements.
- Interface with the wider project stakeholders including the client’s engineering team, consultation leads, lawyers etc.
- Representing WSP and its clients to key stakeholders, regulators and industry as required.
QualificationsWe are looking for candidates who have some or all of the following qualification and experience criteria:
Experience criteria
- Over 8 years’ experience of contributing to the delivery of onshore renewables projects in the UK.
- A good understanding of the UK planning system.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
- Excellent reporting skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, to deliver carefully considered solutions to produce high quality work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and industry.
Qualifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in Town Planning or relevant discipline.
- Membership of the RTPI or other relevant body e.g. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA); Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- A full driving licence.
