Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Sets expectation and direction for all Survey Party Chiefs and Field Service Technicians to ensure efficient use of all company resources, and adherence to all company policies. Provides formal coaching feedback to Survey Party Chiefs and Field Service Technicians as well as regular informal feedback.
- Schedules equipment, labor, and tools to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production after becoming familiar with scope of work and respective site conditions. Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure that all client, engineer, and company expectations are met.
- Utilizes CAD and other computer programs to analyze files provided by the EOR, discover potential issues and provide feedback with solutions, produce files for use by construction survey and installation teams, and produce as-built data and linework to be provided to the clients and EORs.
- Acts as a consultant to management, engineering, and on-site supervisory personnel in the areas of
- engineering design, site investigation and localization, TOPO, staking, pinning, trench as-built surveying,
- grading and pile installation using GPS-enabled equipment, and GPS equipment installation and support.
- Participates in meetings with Engineers of Record (EORs), Clients, Site Management Teams, and in-house Engineering Teams.
- Assist GPS / Survey General Superintendent with site localizations, personnel hiring and training, file distribution,
- GPS system installation / diagnosis / repair, remote diagnostic and machine calibration, building of machine control files and pile plans, as-built data consolidation and analysis, and overall allocation of GPS / Survey resources.
- Responsible for communicating with on-site supervision to ensure safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project for specific discipline. Understands and enforces company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and discusses concerns with Site Managers and Superintendents.
- Communicates with Site Managers to update them on survey-specific project problem areas and works to generate solutions. Collaborates with Site Managers, other Trade Superintendents, General Superintendents, and other supervision to plan and staff (hiring, promoting, disciplining, terminating) trade employees through the proper utilization of company resources, processes, and policies.
- Trains and implements standardized Work Plans and Work Methods. Assists Field Operations Manager in
- process improvement efforts.
- Displays a professional demeanor and acts professionally while interacting with internal and external individuals.
- Understands scope of work per the Site Teams, Client and Engineers (internal and external).
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Establish and maintain crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed.
- May at times investigate new GPS / Survey technologies for use in construction applications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
- 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering-related field, OR 3 years specific GPS/Survey construction experience.
- Ability to supervise employees.
- Solid understanding of CAD, Microsoft Excel.
- Thorough knowledge of GPS equipment uses and limitations in construction.
- Good communication skills to deal with managers, clients, engineers, and employees.
- Possess a solid understanding of solar construction processes and systems, specifically those processes related to
- GPS and Survey applications.
- Travel to construction sites is required every week, with 1 week per 4 worked from home.
- Have or obtain FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Pilot’s License.
- Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
