Job Description
As a Controller you will lead the project control of our core business, power supply development projects.
You will manage the financial planning of large renewable energy power plant projects in Japan, such as solar and wind power, as well as refarming (farm-based solar) projects and grid storage battery projects.
You will also have the opportunity to be involved in overseas projects.
In addition to operating the control process, you will also formulate business strategies and report on progress to management, plan and coordinate the control process across departments, and provide advice to business leaders and project managers. The role will be to take a proactive lead from a management-level perspective as one arm of the business unit head.
Specific duties will include:
- Developing business strategies (medium-term and one-year business plans) and reporting to management.
- Control of power supply development projects.
- Analysis of the variance between the forecast and actual results for each project (monthly/quarterly/half-yearly/full-year).
- Support for the preparation of project budgets.
- Development of financial/non-financial KPIs and forecasting/reporting.
- Development of business processes and guidelines
- Financial modelling reviews
- Preparation of departmental budgets and forecasting and control (single year, five-year).
- SPC management, management of/coordination with outsourced accounting firms

- Experience in numerical management, control or similar in industries that are highly compatible with our power development business, such as renewable energy, other energy (Oil & Gas, etc.), real estate, infrastructure projects, etc.
- Communication skills and the ability to work with a large number of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong logical thinking capability
- Ability to take action to achieve objectives.
Language
Japanese: at least business level, able to speak/read/write in business communication
English: at least basic ability
【Preferred】
- Experience of working in a controlling role in a renewable energy project (strongly preferred)
- Experience of leading a project controlling team
- Experience as a business player in the renewable energy industry
- Experience in SPC accounting at a management company or similar, e.g. in an accounting or business management department
- Experience in strategic financial management at an accounting consulting firm or investment-related company
- Related experience in listed companies within the energy, financial or real estate industries
- Accounting & financial reporting, consolidated accounting experience
- High level of proficiency in Japanese and English
