Position Overview
Invenergy’s Compliance department is a dynamic group that engages with key stakeholders across the company to address ongoing and emerging issues. The team has a primary focus on preserving Invenergy’s integrity, including in critical areas of regulatory and reputational risk, political compliance, and more.
Invenergy is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Political Compliance Analyst to support our growing Compliance team. This individual will be located in Invenergy’s Chicago, IL headquarters and would report directly to the Compliance Manager. This individual will also coordinate closely with Invenergy’s Public Affairs team on critical political compliance, campaign finance, and the company’s political action committee (PAC) activities. Key responsibilities include monitoring, developing, and implementing political compliance best practices and policies across the company’s state and federal affairs portfolios; supporting federal and state compliance activities with respect to the company’s campaign finance strategies; as well as monitoring internal trends to identify opportunities for continuous improvement to our Compliance program.
To be successful in this role, the right candidate will need to have excellent communication skills, creativity, and the ability to collect information from varying sources and summarize that information in a simple way for managerial / stakeholder understanding. In addition, this person will need the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders at varying levels, ranging from entry-level employees to senior management. Demonstrated experience knowing when to escalate urgent issues to management, and when to provide updates in a routine fashion is a must.
Responsibilities:
State Affairs Compliance
- Track state-level lobbying and campaign finance regulations in key jurisdictions.
- Support the development and execution of lobbying and advocacy compliance initiatives across government affairs and non-government affairs functions.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of state lobbying and campaign finance reports.
- Work closely with the state government affairs team to ensure compliance with state-specific laws and regulations.
- Build and execute state lobbying educational programs, including developing training and tactical collateral that can be utilized in the field.
Federal Affairs Compliance
- Monitor, analyze, and ensure compliance with federal lobbying and campaign finance regulations.
- Prepare and file accurate and timely reports with relevant federal agencies, including applicable Federal Agencies and the U.S. Congress.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide guidance on federal lobbying and political activity, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal compliance requirements and communicate changes internally.
- Build and execute federal lobbying educational programs, including developing training and tactical collateral.
Political Action Committee (PAC) Compliance
- Work with the company’s PAC Steering Committee to ensure compliance with PAC reporting to federal and state agencies in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the PAC Steering Committee and internal stakeholders to facilitate PAC activities while adhering to legal requirements.
- Stay abreast of emerging PAC development strategies, understand industry best practices, and identify for Invenergy.
- Participate in relevant PAC strategy and political compliance stakeholder groups, such as trade associations and educational opportunities, to further develop Invenergy’s PAC and political compliance expertise.
- Assist in the development and execution of compliant PAC Steering Committee’s growth and maintenance strategies and initiatives.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, law, public administration, business administration or a related field
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in political compliance, campaign finance, lobbying, or related fields, including relevant internship experience.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal lobbying, campaign finance, and PAC regulations.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical guidance.
- Hands-on understanding of monitoring analytics, and reporting tools used by compliance organizations.
- Strong project management skills (planning, executing, reporting, and evaluating).
- Creating and managing compliance information and performance reporting showing integrity and sound judgement.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
- Ability to effectively train employees.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus
- Experience using BI tools, Power BI is a plus
